Ohhh Summer

It's been a busy summer.  We are busy remodeling a bathroom ourselves because we cannot afford a professional.  We do not have time either but it's easier to find time than money for now.  It is difficult and time consuming especially when you have a demanding work and active toddler.  The fact is it is not our first time doing bathroom remodelling.  We did it several years ago but it was not a good job.  So, more experienced this time, we thought it would be easier.  Wrong!  I promised myself that I would never tackle this kind of endeavour again for as long as I am sane.  However, we are getting good compliments from professionals, none the less, that we did a great tile work.  This made me smile...

Anyhow, despite the busy-ness and insanity,  we're still able to squeeze in some small trips.  We visited my sister in CT and strolled NYC.  I attended my college reunion in NJ.  We met with my husband's friends in Chicago.  We went to the State Fair twice.   Now, we are debating if we would go to Minneapolis or not.  I would like to go but the bathroom is still not done...

Oh well, I just want to share  my favorite photo of the season.

while watching an evening parade in Pella, Iowa.

Thank you Geri, I took the picture. It is difficult to get this one. Benji is not a good subject. He does not want his picture taken... I hope you're having a good summer. I need all the luck with the bathroom. i hope there will be no leak or whatever crazy...

Yes, summer is the time for all repairs. While we are out of town my friend's BF repaired our all the ceilings (3 rooms, bathroom and hallway) with a good price. We thank them for that, or else it would cost us a fortune. We did paint the walls on our own and after 2 weeks we're done. But there is the tiding up after. Btw, love watching videos about deco, remodelling, hot to do stuffs at home etc. it helps a lot.

Goodluck on your bathroom remodelling. Wow, compliments from professionals that's really means you both did a good job ;) ! Kudos to you & husband !

Love the photo very candid, they are both handsome :D ! Happy summer and enjoy what's left of summer.

Although I have done several bathrooms over the years, they aren't my favorite thing to remodel for sure. I guess mostly because of my height and them being so small. I love to tile but just hate the plumbing part. Seems like it involves at least five trips to the hardware store to get all the right fittings.

If you hit Minneapolis, I recommend a stop to Joe's Garage for a meal. It is next to a sculpture park and you can eat up on the roof. Food is great. I also like stopping at the Global Market which sells a lot of ethnic foods. I had a Torta sandwich there once that I still think about.

Oh and if you cross the river to St. Paul and like NPR, a stop at Garrison Keillor's bookstore may be in order.

@Haze, You are lucky to have a friend who could help. I love watching those home improvement videos too. They make it look so easy...

@Ed, You are right. I hate bathroom remodelling too. We gave in on plumbing. We hired a handyman for that.

We are not done yet but we just went ahead to Minneapolis. We were just there for a day. We made it to the Sculpture garden but it was raining. We still got the picture of the spoon with cherry. We would like to go back soon. It's not that far relatively speaking ( compared to NYC). Thank you for the recommendations. We would like to go to those places you recommended. We are thinking of going more north next year, he,he. Oh, I love Garrison Keillor. I was thinking about him when we were there but I spent so much time in IKEA.
